1968 was the first year for the C3 generation of Corvettes.
The new styling was based on the
Mako Shark concept car, thus the new Corvette was dubbed the 'Shark'.
(This would be changed back to 'Stingray' in 1969.)
Our 1968 Corvette Coupe left the assembly line during the latter part
of July 1968 and was originally Safari Yellow with black interior.
The 327cid/300hp engine was the base model for that year and came
equipped with a Quadrajet 4-barrel carburetor.
(1968 was the last year that a 327 would be available in a Corvette.)
The power is put to the pavement through a Turbo-Hydramatic 400 automatic
transmission and a positraction rear axle with 3.08:1 gear ratio.
The 1968 Corvette originally rode on 15x7 rally wheels wrapped in
F70x15 bias-ply tires.
Our 1968 Corvette also has optional power steering, power brakes, power
windows, and AM/FM radio.
This matching numbers 'vette is being
treated to a total frame-off restoration.
The entire restoration will be documented on this website,
so you'll be able to watch as this old Corvette is whipped back into
shape.
